The Buchan Bakers won the National AAU Championship 45 years ago, but the exploits of those who played high-caliber amateur basketball long ago is mostly forgotten. Robin Buchan, a son of George Buchan, sponsor of the Buchan Bakers, is a retired history professor, and he is working on a book about the Buchan Bakers. He has enlisted Bruce Kitts, a grandson of George Buchan and former journalist, to help him. We welcome feedback about this site and are particularly interested in any first-hand reminiscences.
In the future, we plan to add sections on the Northwest AAU League, the National Industrial Basketball League, and more information on the Buchan Bakers players.
